A Mother’s Day
Today we celebrate all the mothers. Not just the Instagram mothers (though we love them too) but the humble and hidden mothers. We honor both the mothers who planned to bring a life and the ones who just accepted one as it came. We send love to the ones who fought so hard for one, who couldn’t have one, and to those that lost one, we embrace the tightest.
Today, we try for empathy. Not just for the ones who loved every moment but for the ones who suffered through it. For the moms who had to also be women, we understand you had (at least) two roles to juggle in this world. What you gave to us was not just a gift, but often a sacrifice. One that we should be grateful for every day. Because every day is a day that we owe our everything to you.

Today is a day to devote to creation. Mothers expose us to a life through compassionate, nurturing, and loving eyes. We admire, not just the mothers that Hallmark paints but the real ones. The sometimes unknowing, inpatient, imperfect mothers. They, who have along with their newborn, learnt to walk in baby steps, never too scared to fall and always brave enough to get right back up.
When we think about birth, we imagine this enormous industry surrounding the preparation of this event. A community quickly encircles the pregnancy, protecting it, helping it grow. All culminating in the celebration of the birth of a child. But never forget the second birth. That of the mother. She is just as new to her world and just as scared. Let’s celebrate her and make her feel secure.
